Matias Carrión

WORK AREA: Technical departament

ROLE WITHIN THE DEPARTAMENT: Steering systems area

COLLEGE CAREER: Mechanical civil engineering

DESCRIPTION: When I found out about the solar car at the University of La Serena, I knew that what I wanted to study was mechanical civil engineering. I was amazed how students had been able to build it and manage to compete in such an important race as the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge, for which, as soon as I entered the university, I tried to join the team, however, it was not until the end of 2020 that I managed to join to the team to help in the management area, where I have been able to obtain new knowledge and put to the test what I am learning in parallel at the university, analyzing the theory, the operation and the parts that contain this system that is so important for its proper functioning vehicle. Along with this, it should be noted that it has been a great pleasure for me to be able to work with this great team and the different people that make it up, where I have witnessed the effort and sacrifice that everyone puts in to be able to carry out such an incredible project.

RANDOM THINGS: I like biking, walking, volleyball, doing home repairs, playing board games and cold climates, the colder the better, during the pandemic I discovered a taste for gardening which became a time of relaxation and tranquility during that period. Among my hobbies are playing video games, watching movies and anime, studying the latest technology and spending time with my family. Finally, it should be noted that what motivates me the most every day is learning new things and feeling that I can contribute a little to have a world focused on the environment and sustainability.
