The IntiKallpa solar car, which in Quechua language means “energy from the sun“, was born in 2011 during a collaborative alliance between the University of La Serena and Minera Los Pelambres, to which various companies have joined.

The team in charge of this project, Antakari (“copper man” in Quechua), is made up of students and professors from the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of La Serena and engineers from Minera Los Pelambres who through multidisciplinary work, have created 5 prototypes so far and in the development of a sixth version.
